PowerSponge is the revolutionary new rubber from BUTTERFLY. The rubber is produced using technology that meets the requirements of the solvent glue ban proposed by the ITTF and scheduled to take effect from 1st September 2008. Extensive work by the Research & Development Department of Tamasu Butterfly has culminated in rubber being developed that produces the high level of spin and speed required in modern day table tennis, while virtually requiring no changes to present day techniques. It is modern day table tennis without the need to use speed glue!

What is "PowerSponge"?

The first generation of these rubbers is produced following a specific and researched procedure. The achieved effect lasts similar to the average life of freshly glued rubber, about three to four months. In terms of acoustic feedback, spin and speed, PowerSponge rubbers are difficult to distinguish from fresh glued rubbers. Now, the player can forget about the laborious procedure of fresh gluing and thus more time can be spent playing, without losing any effect that speed glue once provided.

How is it possible to keep this effect for such a long period? In addition to PowerSponge rubbers, BUTTERFLY offers a special safety bag, the AluBag CO2. After playing, put the complete racket into the AluBag CO2, tighten the screw rail and fill CO2 into the bag by breathing through one of the straws provided. As soon as the AluBag CO2 is sealed, the bag is airtight (see instructions). The CO2 creates pressure which is higher than the pressure inside the sponge; therefore, the AluBag CO2 extends the positive characteristics of PowerSponge rubber. The racket remains "fresh" and is constantly ready for the next challenge.

How are the rubbers glued onto the blade? Exactly the same as before, your table tennis dealer will glue the rubbers onto the blade and cut accordingly; of course you are welcome to do it by yourself. Please take care to use a basic glue; we recommend BUTTERFLY BASIC CHACK until the end of August 2007, which guarantees a long lasting adhesion to your blade. Our development department is working on the completion of a water-based glue, which will enable rubbers to be removed from the racket blade on a regular basis.

Seize the advantage: DON'T GLUE - PLAY MORE!
